Monday & Turesday - Plymouth, CA

Monday I worked until I had a late lunch and then it was off to the pool to swim, sun and read.  Pat joined me for while and we even tried out the huge hot tub.  Back to the RV to watch TV.  Nothing  much else to tell.

Tuesday  I worked for a while and then we were off to find a Walmart so Pat could get an ink cartridge for the printer.  We found a Walmart in Jackson and then drove back to Sutter Creek to visit the downtown shops.  We quickly found out that most of the shops were closed on Tuesday so may have to go another day to hit the shops that were closed.  We were in luck as there was a wine tasting establishment open with wine tastings from 3 different wineries in the area, one of the winery's was my favorite, Gold Hill.  I already knew all the Gold Hill wines so tasted the red wines from the other 2 wineries, Sierra Ridge Winery and Le Mulet Rouge (the red mule) (sounds better in french, huh?)  The Lady pouring our wine was a lot of fun and I ended up buying a Sierra Ridge Syrah.

We stopped and ate at the mexican food restaurant in Plymouth as we heard they served good mexican food.  We were disappointed and should have known better (Hello! we're in California).  It was not the good Tex-Mex food we are used to.

When we got back to the RV I received a work call so took care of that and then to the pool.  I stayed about an 2 hours with Pat visiting for about 45 minutes.  Came home to tend to my blog.  I don't think we are doing anything exciting tonight, just the usual.  TaTa til tomorrow.

Sunday - Plymouth, CA

Sunday we opted to ride the BMW and visit some of the Amador area wineries.  These wineries are all just one after the other on both sides of the road.  The day started out cool and overcast.

Our first stop was Villa Toscano.  I had heard that their Barbera wine was to die for.  I was not that impressed but the winery itself was very impressive. Very Italian wine country.

The next Winery is Andis.  It is a fairly new winery.  The pictures are showing slats from a wine barrell.  Pretty cool looking.  This winery was a very modern looking winery inside and out.

I'm not sure of the name of the winery below. It was a pretty cool place (see the next 6 pics) and they had some kind of roasted red pepper dipping sauce that was scrumptious, Pat even liked it.

that's me

Here is one of our greeters.

The Helwig winery below is a new winery and they have an awesome view.  All the wineries are getting ready for the Crush weekend coming up 10/1/11

 See all the yummy grapes.

All the above pics are of the Helwig winery. Beautiful.  We also went to the Story Winery, great Zinfandels.  In fact this whole area is known for thier Barbera and Zinfandel wines.

We then stopped at a very small winery, Amador Cellars and talked to the husband of the husband and wife wine maker team.  His wife has just completed a Wine making degree at the University.  This wine stuff is big business.  He was a very nice man and walked us through the complete wine making process.  His wines were very reasonably priced.

I think the last 2 pics are of the Karmere Winery.  We went to too many winery's and I think I'm wined out again.  I believe there are 43 winery's in this area.  WOW!

Here's me again.

After this winery we came home to a late lunch and then I had an afternoon nap.  I don't think we will be going to the Crush as we were told it is really, really crowded and much of a madhouse at all the wineries.  Of course now that I have tasted some of the wines I'll just go the store and buy.  I didn't buy any wines from the wineries on Sunday.

Saturday-Plymouth, Ca

Got up early this morning (5:00) and watched the movie, 127 hours, while drinking our coffee in bed.  This is the show about the hiker that get's his arm trapped by a rock in the Utah canyon area and has to cut his arm off and hike out before someone finds him. Needless to say, this was a tear jerker.

After the movie I took Blaze out for his morning walk, came back ate breakfast and then took off for my walk around the RV resort.  Stopped by the gift shop, came back to the RV to get my money and then back to the gift shop to make some purchases.  I can't mention what I bought because I bought one for myself and one for Samantha, I want her to be surprised. With my walk and shopping I was gone about an hour.

The park is pretty full and it seems like everyone has a dog or 2 and everyone is walking thier dog.  I saw Cody (Chumley) on his morning mosey.  Chumley (Cody) came to visit this afternoon, pics.....

There is another couple across the street from us, not sure of thier age, but sure they are older than Pat and myself.  This couple is dressed in thier matching bicycle riding gear and taking off on thier bicycle built for 2.  You've got to love it.

After lunch we went to the pool.

Adult only pool, that's me

Pat stayed at the pool for an hour and then returned to the RV.  Not me, I stayed for 2 1/2 hours and by the time I left both pools were rocking, lots of people, the majority just enjoyed sitting pool side.

After my return to the RV we sat outside, Pat drinking a beer and me a glass of wine (of course!).  Our across the street neighbors and Chumley's parents came for a visit, then it was time for dinner.

What a great day.  I love this RV resort.  Tomorrow, it's wine tasting.  WooHoo!

Thursday-Placerville & Friday-Plymouth, CA

Thursday was a work day from @#$%.  I worked 9 hours starting at 5:45 CA time.  Ate breakfast and lunch at my desk.  Not much else to tell.  We will not miss this campground when we leave tomorrow. The RV park was just not what we expected when we got  here and the fact that this has been the most expensive RV park with no grass and tight ugly sites.  The pool didn't have any loungers, only chairs. I guess I'm somewhat spoiled.  Here's some pics....

Friday while waiting to leave Placerville I worked.  We were so ready to leave but couldn't check in to our new RV place until 11:00 and its only 20 miles down.the road.  As the road to our next RV site is very narrow and curvy I had to drive the SUV and follow Pat.  We are now in the Amador Wine Country with many more wineries to visit.   We've arrived in Plymouth, CA, population 500 and something.

After I worked a while Pat and I then went to the pool.  Love it, they have 2 pools and a huge hot tub.  One pool is for adults only. (Now that's what I'm talking about) This RV resort has a gift shop/deli, a huge auditorium, a concrete dance area, library and many water features in the park.  I can't wait to check out the gift shop, and because we are now members of the 49er's (RV resort) you get 10% off of everything in the shop even wine and then 25% off of anything with thier logo on it.  Look out gift shop, here I come.

Okay,  back from the pool and decided to go across the highway to the Pokerville Grocery to check out what they have.  I like this store, they have 3 aisles of wine and liquor with great prices.  The store has a deli and they make pizzas, we ordered one for pick up at 6:00 for dinner. You can purchase the pizza ready to bake or they will bake it for you.  Of course since our oven is only large enough for a medium pizza and we ordered the extra large, we had them cook our pizza.   It was delish.

We visited with some neighbors across the street, they have the cutest little dog, a  white teacup poodle.  Cody is the dog's name, he is 4 years old with an old soul.  He doesn't move fast at all, this is the slowest dog I've ever seen.  I do believe that the name Chumley would be a better fit for him.  (If you ever watch the show, Pawn Stars, you know that Chumley on the show is somewhat of a slug)  Yes, the name Chumley would be a perfect fit.  I could bring this dog into our family, but I don't think they will give him up.  He is adorable.

Can't wait until tomorrow, there's no work.  I plan to do some swimming and shopping.  Oh yea.

Wednesday-Placerville, CA

Today I tried getting  into the office computer to do some work but was never successful.  I later found out that thier system was down.  So off we went to the Lake Tahoe area.  We took Blaze and a picnic lunch.....  It was Beautiful....  The lake is 1600+ feet deep, the temperature at the bottom of the lake is  about 38 degrees with the top of the lake at around 68 degrees.  Makes you want to jump right in, doesn't it?

Got home late in the afternoon to have dinner and watch the tube.  It was a nice day.
