Friday - Sorry Guys, I took the day off from blogging, but you really didn't miss much. Friday I worked, took a walk and read. The day started out nice.(see sunrise)
Later in the afternoon a storm came up in the West (see pics). The west was black and the east was suny. We got a teensy bit of rain, just enough to make the RV, car and bike look yukey. The storm then went north and west around us.
Stayed in Friday nite for dinner as thought we would hit the Famous Burro restaurant on Saturday.
Saturday - Got up and we all took a walk to show Pat what I had found by the tent camping area which was a pond with a deck and an area with 2 covered swings and an Outhouse. Boy my days are exciting.
Came back to sit under the RV awning and read. Later we watched some TV shows that pat had taped.
I actually dressed to have dinner at the Famous Burro, had on jewelry, hair and makeup looked good and then dissapointment. The Burro was closed. All dressed up and no where to go. So we went to the pizza place and ordered a pizza to take back to the RV. The owner of the pizza place said that the Burro closed on Wednesday at 7:30 and hadn't opened since. You can always count on the pizza place they are always open 7 days a week. I guess we could have gone to the Gage but we didn't feel like dropping a $100 for drinks and dinner.
After dinner Pat watched a race and I read. Mother's day tomorrow. Till then.

Thursday-Marathon
I started work before 7:00 AM this morning. It was a beautiful day until around 10:30 when the wind hit with a vengence and didn't let up until late in the evening.
We needed to take a break from the wind at the RV so we took Blaze back to the park and let him run and run (he loves it there). We met a lady and her dog Duchess at the park. She was from Wyoming, down here visiting and waiting for the snow to stop back home.
Came back to the RV and watched all the RV's and bikers pulling into the Motel and RV Park for the night. We had been here most of the time by ourselves but now the place was almost full, we even had a tent camper.
Pat met the new neighbors and started talking RV's and such, I think he was glad to have some male companionship close by; Pat likes to talk.
Pat grilled chicken on the grill and I cooked up a medley of fresh vegetables, even Pat like it. He also like my roasted sweet potatos I made the night before.
Watched TV then off to bed. Maybe I'll have some more pics tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Wednesday - Marathon
The day started out nice so Pat decided he would ride to Ft. Stockton while I worked. After a bit the sky became overcast and it was windy so he returned with groceries. I think he likes to grocery shop the way I like to do laundry.
After working, in lieu of reading I opted to work some crossword puzzles. I used to do a crossword every day, so it was nice to work the ole brain again.
Pat gave Blaze a haircut and a bath. He smells much better. He has loved running free off the leash. Since we were the only ones at the RV park didn't feel he needed to be on a leash. When we were visiting our friends yesterday he actually treed their cat. He thought he was tough stuff.
I don't have any pictures today. Maybe tomorrow.

Tuesday - Marathon
This morning the temp was 36 but no wind. The cold here is so different than the cold in Austin since the humidity is so low.
I worked all morning. We ate lunch and then decided to go to town. Most everything closes at 1:00 but there was a new store that was open so went in to view see what they had for sale. It's an interesting store in that they probably have something for any type of personality. We then went to the local grocery store to get some bread. The prices for food here are HIGH.
We then decided to visit the Gage Gardens (it's a piece of paradise in the desert)again and do some putting on the putting green in the gardens. I haven't held a golf club in over 18 years. I thought I did pretty good.
Came back to the RV (see pics of our campsite) and later Pat called Tom & Rosalinda, past chili cooks, and a date was set for 4:30 happy hour on thier front porch. They invited another couple that had cooked chili in the past, he won the Terlingua cook off several years ago, thinking Pat might know them but he didn't. We had a nice time visiting then came home for dinner around 7:00.
The last pic shows our outdoor rug nailed down. If you didn't nail it down it would be in the next county or state with the way the wind has been blowing.

Monday-Marathon
Woke up to temps in the low 40's and wind. I did a little work and then we decided to go and visit our friends, Barbara & Jimmy Taylor in Terlingua.
I actually got to ride in the car today vs going by motorcycle. Got to the Taylors and Barbara was the only one there as Jimmy had a problem at one of his jobs and couldn't get away so we took Barbara and went to lunch at a restaurant in Terlingua(great burgers).
After lunch we traveled to LaJitas to visit Jimmy and look at the home he is in the process of remodeling. Then Barbara took us on a tour of homes of the owners of LaJitas. We got to go in and view the house that is being remodeled for the sole heir of the Tandy family. They took a house with 3 bedrooms and made into a 1 bedroom - cost over 1 Mill. Ms. Tandy is also having a house in the same area remodeled for her daughter. Jimmy is not remodeling these houses but his friend Butch is.
We said good-bye to Barbara and Jimmy and drove back home thru Big Bend Park. (see pics).
Blaze seemed to like the scenery. Got home late afternoon and I did some work while Pat watched a little TV and took a nap.
Adios until tomorrow.

Sunday-Marathon
I had a slight oops on my blog yesterday as I said it was back to work today. Duh, it's Sunday. My bad.
Nothing much to report, Blaze and Pat took a bike ride, took a few pictures of mule deer (not sure if you can see them clearly in pics) and as the wind started blowing again were back home quickly. They had planned to go to Van Horn but didn't make it.
The rest of the day was spent in the RV watching TV and reading. Later in the afternoon you couldn't even see the mountains, not sure if it was dust from the wind or smoke that had blown in.
Till tomorrow.

Saturday - Marathon
Left early to ride to Ft. Davis to have breakfast with the BMW club. It was a beautiful morning. The sun was just coming up and we hit cold and warm patches along the way with no wind, it was a great ride. We met up with everyone and had breakfast at the Ft. Davis Cafe. This cafe also has a soda fountain just like in the old days and they also sell fudge. With the bikers and the locals the place was full and hopping.
After breakfast we decided to check out Balmorhea and the McDonald Observatory. As we approached Balmorhea there was a fire just west of town, we saw many fire trucks along the way and the smoke was overwhelming.
We rode thru the Balmorhea Park, they have the largest spring fed pool, to see if this would be a place we would want to stay. All looked good and per the park people Verizon works here. I think this will be our next stop.
Then on to the McDonald Observatory, its a curvy road going up.
On our way home we stopped in Alpine at the grocery store, bought steaks, bacon(on sale), bananas, apples, chips, a bottle of wine and a bag of ice to get everything home.
It was around 12:30 when we returned and warming up to HOT. We lounged in the RV the rest of day, me reading and Pat watching racing. Pat grilled our steak from Alpine and served it up with baked potato and salad.
We were seranaded later as our happy hour place was being used to host a wedding for a local ranchers daughter. The band was still going when we went to bed. Tomorrow it's back to work and who know's what else. Stay tuned.
